Nicholas - USA

Hello fellow Wonder Woman collectors! My name is Nicholas. I was born in 1983 and I live in Minneapolis, Minnesota. I, like many of you, originally fell in love with the iconic Amazon when I was first exposed to the Wonder Woman television series starring none other than the amazing Lynda Carter…(thank God for syndication…lol). I have collected Wonder Woman memorabilia for a little over 20 years (since I was around 8 years old) and since then my collection has grown into having thousands of items ranging from dolls, action figures, costumes, coloring books, puzzles, games, records, comics, etc.

Many of my favorite childhood memories involve Wonder Woman... watching and reenacting scenes from the iconic TV show, playing “dress up” with my older brother (also a huge Wonder Woman fan) and having my grandpa take me to the comic book shop every month to pick up the latest installment of the Wonder Woman comic book. The first pieces I can remember having as a youngster were the Super Powers action figure, the AVON hand mirror, the Underoos underwear, set (or “Wonder-oos” as my mom tells me I used to call them) and the 12” Mego Wonder Woman doll, that I think we were able to still find gathering dust at a local Children’s Palace clearance shelf in the mid 80’s.

Currently I live in a small loft space so display room for my collection is limited to a very small area of my closet where I house my favorite pieces. The rest of my collection is currently residing (and overflowing) in a large storage unit elsewhere. Although I only have a fraction of my collection displayed, every time I open my closet and look at it it puts a huge smile on my face and fills my heart with joy. Someday I plan on having a much larger space where I will have the capacity to have my “Wonder Woman room” and display my collection in its entirety like many of the other amazing collections on this site!

Growing up as a young boy in the Midwest, who loved and collected Wonder Woman, wasn’t always the easiest thing and proved to have some challenges. However, my mom has always been supportive of my brother and I. She was understanding and open enough to let us make our own decisions about the kinds of toys we wanted to play with, even if they didn’t always fit the mainstream “boy toys.” She raised us to be ourselves and to always stay true to our hearts...and as much as I love the character of Wonder Woman, my mom will always be my real-life Wonder Woman!

I have always loved and will always love Wonder Woman and everything that encompasses the iconic Amazon. I enjoy talking about collecting Wonder Woman memorabilia and I would love to chat with others who share my passion. Please feel free to shoot me an e-mail just to say hi or to talk Wonder Woman!

Favorite items: I would have to say that still after many years of collecting the majority of my favorite pieces are those that hold a great deal of sentimental value and remind me of my childhood like those items listed above. As far as favorite items not reminiscent of my earlier years, It would have to be my Ideal Comic Heroines Wonder Woman doll, the 12” Lily Ledy “Mujer Maravilla” doll, and the handmade replicas from the CBS area costume shown below. I made them a few years back as part of a Wonder Woman costume I wore on Halloween (also pictured below) and since then have kept them displayed in a decorative shadow box.

Below: Christmas of 1983 was my first exposure to Wonder Woman as my brother protectively holds me on our “Super-Heroines” sleeping bag, which fellow Wonder Woman collector Curt has prominently displayed in his collection!
