12" Doll Manufacturer: Ideal Year of release: 1967 Description: The first Wonder Woman doll was part of Ideal's 1967 Comic Heroines line that also included Super Girl, Bat Girl and Mera, Queen of Atlantis (Aquaman's wife). The 11.5" poseable doll included Diana Prince's nurses outfit and shield which is the same used for Ideal's Captain Action doll. Wonder Woman 8" Doll Manufacturer: Mego Year of release: 1972 Description: As part of their World's Greatest Super Heroes line Mego released an 8" Wonder Woman doll in 1972. It features a one-piece removable cloth body suit with Wonder Woman's tiara painted onto the forehead. This US version came packaged in two ways - one in a window box, the other on a blister card. Some of these dolls came with plastic red boots while others didn't. A test figure owned by a Mego employee sold for US$1,525 in 2008. Click on the thumbnail to see a picture of this test figure. This doll was also realsed in Italy by distributor Baravelli. Wonder Woman 8" Doll
- Mexican Variant Manufacturer: Lily Ledi Mexico Year of release: Unknown Description: Lily Ledy, one of the largest toy companies in Mexico at that time, produced a version of Mego's 1972 Wonder Woman 8" doll. The box features the text Marvilla - La Mujer Maravilla and Super Chicas. The head of the doll is slightly different as are the stars on the shorts - this version features larger stars than the regular US release. Wonder Woman Australian 8"
Doll Manufacturer: Mego Year of release: 1977 Description: Mego did not distribute their 1972 doll in Australia until 1977, no doubt due to the popularity of the Wonder Woman television series. The only visible differences between this and the US version is a much brighter yellow tiara and the eagle on the bodysuit has an eye. There are only 2 carded versions known to exist (both owned by the same collector) making this one of the most collectable of all the Mego figures. Approx value: This Australian release was valued at US$3000 in 1996. Collectors estimate the price today to be closer to US$10,000. |

Baby Wonder Woman Doll Manufacturer: Amsco Year of release: 1976 Description: Baby Wonder Woman doll meausirng approx 7" tall featuring molded vinyl head and plush bean-bag body (the advertisement for these dolls reads double bag protection for the plastic pellet bodies). Box reads Hi, I'm baby Wonder Woman. Other characters in the series included Batman, Superman, Captain America, Spiderman, Captain Marvel. Plastimarx in Mexico and L Furga in Italty also released these dolls. TV Series Doll - Version 1 Manufacturer: Mego Year of release: 1976 Description: 12" doll based on Lynda Carter's look in the Wonder Woman television series. The eagle-crested red and yellow bodice was painted onto the doll, while the removable blue and white starred shorts were made of cloth. She features silver plastic bracelets, red knee-high boots and removable tiara. The doll also came with a golden lasso, a Navy-style Diana Prince uniform (complete with high-heeled shoes and glasses) and a display-stand. Box reads Evil doers beware! The only noticeable difference between the US version and this Canadian version is the packaging. It does not contain an image of Lynda Carter as Wonder Woman, but shows the three drawn images by Dick Giordano as well as a picture of the doll dressed in the Navy-style Diana Prince costume. They were produced in small quantities by Pin Pin Toys for the Canadian market as the US market apparently showed no interest in distributing the outfits. The outfits came packaged on blister cards, featuring art by Dick Giordano, and could also be used on the Nubia and Hippolyte dolls.
