
Wonder Woman Television Series Costume Concept Sketches

Description: The costume designer for all three seasons of the Wonder Woman television series was Donald Lee Feld (1937-2007), aka Donfeld. In 1978 he was nominated for an Emmy Award for Outstanding Achievement in Costume Design for a Drama or Comedy Series for the episode from The New Adventures of Wonder Woman titled Anschluss 77. Back Issue # 5 (August 2004) features an interview with Donfeld where he talks about the costume in detail as well as the two piece bikini he created for the underwater scenes that refused to stay on Lynda Carter's body. These sketches usually sell between $800-1500, but have sold as high as US$4,000.

This sketch was inscribed to his good friend actor Richard Chamberlain (on back) and reads For Dear Richard from Dear Donf. with every kindest good wish and sincere admiration. As ever, Donfeld (Himself), Christmas, 1976. This piece once sold through Christies New York in November 2001 and was estimated to sell between US$800-900. It ended up selling for US$1,528. In 2005 it sold again, this time fetching US$2,390.
