Wonder Woman was extremely popular in Mexico and South America particularly Brazil and Argentina. Some of the most rare and sought after Wonder Woman memorabilia originate from these countries, including the pink metal Wonder Woman lunchbox to name one example. It recently sold online for US$500.
The television series starring Lynda Carter was a huge hit in these countries with Lynda appearing on the cover of many magazines and even in her own comic book series based on the television show which are incredibly hard to find and extremely collectible. One item on the top of many collectors want lists is the Mexican version of the Lynda Carter Wonder Woman Mego doll which rarely comes up for sale. The Wonder Woman series theme song was also very popular with multiple versions of the song released on vinyl.
Items from Brazil usually display Wonder Woman's name as "Mulher Maravilha" while items from Argentina and Mexico as "La Mujer Maravilla" or "Marvila".
NOTE: The listing below does not yet cover the Mexican and South American comic books. I am planning on adding those to the site shortly and will update this page when I have. |
